To understand the gallbladder and its functions, we first need to understand the digestive system. When we eat food, the food passes through the mouth down the food pipe into the stomach. The stomach is responsible for chewing the food and converting it into a liquid before sending it further for digestion in the intestines. The liver is producing a critical liquid called bile which helps in the digestion of fats. Bile flows through tubes from the liver and reaches the small intestines.
